This was for a Wizard of Oz themed birthday party for a 3-year old who just loves Dorothy! I made the rainbow out of M&M's and yes, Emerald City is made out of Green Apple Twizzlers! It was very hard to get them to stand up-right, because Twizzlers are, well, kind of floppy! Audra helped me shape the fondant Dorothy. It turned out ok even though we thought Dorothy kind of resembled a football player with a wig and a dress on. :) Thank you to Rachel for this unique cake opportunity!!

This fun Halloween cake was for my cousin's daughter, Hartley. The colored spiders on this cake are actually little rings! I thought it would be a cute party favor for a girl-party!

This cake was SO much fun! Audra came over to help with this one. We had a fun girls night. This was a golden yellow butter cake. MMM! I taste tested some of the scraps we cut off of the handle of the mic. It was magnifique! Thanks to Audra for all the help!

This was a dear friend of mine's wedding cake. She and my cousin Jonathan were married in June of 2005. I loved all of the bright, vibrant colors that were used in their wedding!

This cake was for another Bridal Tea held at my church. I also made a back-up cake so that it could be cut and served first. The flavors were: Chocolate Chip cake with Chocolate Ganache filling, Strawberry cake with Cream Cheese filling, and Chocolate cake with Butter-cream filling. :) The chocolate chip cake was a real crowd-pleaser!

What a great baby shower this was to be a part of! My sister, Courtney, and my sister-in-law Melissa are due in November and December! These cakes were made for a joint-baby-shower in honor of the two of them. The green cake was chocolate, and the blue cake was white. Both cakes received rave reviews from the guests who attended the shower! Thank you to everyone who came out to support these two sweet people who I am blessed to have as sisters.

Courtney's Crocodile Cake

Courtney did this one all on her own. I have to say, she is a very talented artist! Whoever she made this cake for better have paid her well for it!

Less is More

Sweet Sixteen

This lively cake was made for a sweet lady from church. It was for her granddaughter's Sweet 16 Birthday party. Ryan, my husband, helped me out with this cake.....which I would classify as highest on my "difficulty level" thus far in my cake-design career. Those zebra stripes aren't as easy as they look, let me assure you! Although it was a challenge, it was super fun to make, and the family seemed to be pleased with the outcome!

A Cake to Remember...

Courtney and I made this cake for our brother, Allen, and his fiancee Melissa. Although it appears to be a wedding cake, it is actually a cake we made for a large shower that the Hunter family threw for the newlyweds-to-be in White Bluff, TN. Many thanks to Audra, our faithful assistant, for the ribbon selection on this cake. It was a big hit! :)

Let's Start at the Very Beginning.....A Very Good Place to Start.....

Once upon a time, a little dream I like to call "Cakes & Dainties" was born. We started our career decorating cakes at Baskin Robbins in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Teresa Clary taught us SO MUCH there. Thank you, Teresa. My sister Courtney and I are both artists just waiting to express our artistic abilities! Cakes are our way of doing that. This blog will hopefully generate some new business for us! One day, we hope to open up our own specialty cake bakery. Hendersonville really needs one!
